The Barker Bridge House Trust (BBHT) is a Datchet based charity, one section of which can offer grants to Datchet organisations, BBHT comprises three parts:
The Barker Bridge House Trust Estate administers the Trust's assets - which are the Royal Stag and a parcel of agricultural land off Southlea Road. The Trust Estate manages the capital, the lease of the property, collects the rent and disburses the income to the two charities below:
The Church Branch, which receives 40% of the income for the upkeep of St Mary's Parish Church and its surrounding land. It has its own independent set of trustees.
The Non Ecclesiastical Branch, which receives 60% of the income. It also has its own independent set of trustees. The charitable objects of this branch require its income to be used for "the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of the Ancient Parish of Datchet".
There are few restrictions on how the trustees disburse funds, and in practice they award grants to organisations and clubs in the village which meet the stated charitable objects.
Grants can range from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds and the application process is not complicated. A brief statement should be submitted to the Non Ecclesiastical Branch Trust Clerk giving evidence that you are a Datchet-based organisation, a description of your activities and membership, and a description of the project or activities for which you require funding. State how much you would like from the Trust and include any other sources of funding that you are applying for.
